About Our Pastor

Hello, my name is Reverend Paul Davidson (Pastor Paul) and I thank you for your interest in First Presbyterian Church of Astoria.

My call to ministry, which actually began as a whisper while I was in high school, was answered after a career as a technical writer in various industries. Because of family obligations, I attended the distance learning Masters of Divinity program at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque Iowa, graduating in 2014. After passing my ordination exams and receiving my first call in Miami County Kansas, I was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament (aka Teaching Elder) in June of 2018. After serving the three churches of New Hope Parish in Kansas for five years, I received a call back to the Pacific Northwest. My family and I are so excited to be here in Astoria and hope and pray it will be our home for a long time, if not longer.

It is my belief that one of the biggest sins we can often fall to is putting up barriers for others to worship as God calls them to, which is why you will find an open and affirming church family here at First Presbyterian Church of Astoria. And it is our hope and prayer that you will join us in one of our many family-friendly, all-inclusive church activities, including our weekly worship or our monthly bowling & pizza fellowship.

Feel free to reach out should you wish to learn more about our welcoming, inclusive, family-friendly church family of First Presbyterian Church of Astoria. We look forward to meeting you and to sharing and celebrating God’s Good News with you. Please, be sure to sign up to receive future emails and newsletters about all the great things that God is helping to make happen with our church family.

Blessings and shalom,

Pastor Paul
